Glossary of Terms

This Glossary of Terms is a standard Information Sharing and Assessment requirement, aimed at ensuring that there is a single, up to date list of all the various terms, expressions, acronyms, etc used within and across agencies and professional groups, with Plain English descriptors of what each one means.

The intention is that this will facilitate a more consistent understanding across agencies and professional groups, and reduce the confusion, misunderstandings, and indeed mystique that have existed in the past.

The glossary is also available to children, young people and families, and should reduce over time the use of, or at least the opportunity to hide behind professional jargon.

It is intended to be a living glossary, so if there is a term not listed, or a definition that appears unhelpful, please contact isa@torbay.gov.uk.
