Torbay Children and Young People's Plan (CYPP)

All local authorities are required by DfES to produce and publish by April 2006 a single plan for childrens services, known as the Children and Young People's Plan.

This plan represents the joint agency approach in the local authority area to developing an integrated childrens service, and sets out the key priorities agreed by those agencies as being of greatest importance in helping children and young people to achieve the best possible outcomes.

This plan has been developed by a great number of people working across Torbay, all of whom have contributed in one way or another in shaping the priorities and future actions to be taken by agencies working with children and young people.

It has also been consulted upon by wide ranging audiences, including contributions from children and young people.

The plan is for the period 2006-2009, but is supported by a detailed Part 2: Annex that sets out activities for 2006-07. This will be used to ensure activity across and within agencies is all directed at achieving the key strategic priorities set out in the main plan, and which forms part of an integrated approach to improving children's services. This Annex will be regularly subject to monitoring and review, and will be updated for each subsequent year.

Torbay's Children and Young People's Plan is available on the links below. It has been formally approved by Torbay's Children's Partnership Board and Executive, and by the full Council, as well as partner agencies.

Torbay's CYPP was formally launched on 28th June.  A regular programme of promotional activity to ensure that the plan remains a living and regularly used tool to improve integrated working across all of childrens services will also feature prominently during forthcoming months.
